At Oasis Causeway we help a wide variety of people in the local area. Based in Abbey Street, Coleraine, our friendly, helpful and confidential staff can assist with a range of issues; providing services for people who have experienced some kind of trauma, and need help to work through their situation. If you have been made redundant; have a chronic illness; want help with mental health and wellbeing; have issues with addictions; had or are going through a relationship breakdown; have any other family and parenting concerns; feel lonely or isolated; fell angry; are homeless or facing homelessness; have other housing issues; financial issues; or even want advice on healthy living.
This is facilitated through one to one support via befriending, mentoring and counselling services. We also offer courses on Rebuilding Life After Circumstantial Change due to trauma or crisis, Health, Building Confidence and Self-Esteem, and Life Skills Development (including Making Better Choices). We have no upper age limit, and all are welcome.
In addition, we operate a Drop-in Service on two mornings per week: Tuesdays and Fridays, from 11.00am to 1.00pm. On every second Tuesday in the month, a Community Pharmacist comes in to hold group sessions offering advice on a range of issues, including: Insomnia, Anxiety, Stress, and Medicine Management. (There is the opportunity for a private consultation with the Community Pharmacist during the session.) Plus, we have recently launched ‘Thursday Connect’, held evey Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm where you can drop in for tea and a chat.
From November to March we will be holding a selection of one-off information sessions on Health, Diet, Mood Management, and Prejudice. We will even be hosting a number of Laughter Workshops; for as you know ‘laughter is the best medicine’!
Our Emergency Food Storehouse provides emergency non-perishable food for those in need.
Oasis Causeway works with other agencies in the Causeway Coast area, to connect service users to existing local or specialist services. Some services users have problems with confidence, relationships, housing, unemployment, health, dealing with alcohol/drug misuse, parenting, and so forth; and now have an even greater range of facilities available to them. Service Delivery for Oasis Causeway will be funded for the first year by the Department for Social Development; and we are staffed by 99% volunteers.
Oasis Causeway works to significantly enhance services in the Causeway community; and continues with the ethos of Oasis Caring in Action to ‘transform lives and transform communities’.
